Orly - Sweet Collection [Picture Heavy]

Hello everyone!  I hope everyone had a great weekend.  It was the perfect weather to try out these babies, the Sweet Collection by Orly.  It was released in April of 2010 but was sent to me to review recently.  As always my opinions are my own.

Lemonade - pastel yellow creme.  3 coats.

Lollipop - Light purple creme.  3 coats.

Cotton Candy - Pink creme.  It looks to me like there is a slight orange tone to it, but not enough to be noticeable.  I used 3 coats.

Pixy Stix - Medium pink creme.  This one had some orange tone to it too.  I'd say it was just shy of a coral.  It reminded me of the pink a flamingo can get with plenty of shrimp in it's diet.  But I'm weird.  2 coats.

Gumdrop - Light turquoise creme.  It had enough blue in it to not be a mint green, but it was close.  Great application, 2 perfect coats.

Snowcone - Light blue creme.  Orly describes it as a baby blue, but I feel like it is richer that a baby blue.  2 coats.

My favourites in this collection were Pixy Stix, Gumdrop, and Snowcone.  They weren't your typical pastel colours that we have all seen a million times and they applied wonderfully.  The others were your staple pastels and had some minor streaks that were remedied by applying the polish with the brush as parallel to the nail as possible.

The free lip gloss that came with each bottle.

Lemonade, Lollipop, Cotton Candy, Pixy Stix, Gumdrop, and Snowcone.

The lip gloss had the fuzzy brush that reminds me of a pussy willow.

RIP little fly that got stuck in my polish outside.  A rare casualty of swatching outdoors.  I tried to save it, but I won't go into details about it... :(

I have good and bad things to say  about this polish.

Application was a PITA. It took 4 coats and epic cure time under Seche Vite.  If it wasn't for the protective coat of Seche Vite I would have dents and sheet marks in this beauty.

Now for the GOOD.

This polish wear was amazing.  By morning it was solid. 4 mornings later... NO TIP WEAR... no chips... no cracks... perfect like the first day I wore it.

Now as someone who has not really owned a real pastel other than Banana Bandanna *cough* I'm totally happy I bought these.

Tomorrow I will be snapping pics of the Paper Chasing that will (hopefully) be traveling the world thanks to the genius idea by Annie of NAILSTAH!

I don't have much to say about this one right now.  It's a pretty colour and took 3ish coats to get a good solid look to it.  It was mildly streaky.  Wear isn't as good as What's With the Cattitude?, it had some little chips after about a day.

I'll post What's With the Cattitude tonight.  I had the photos sitting in the entry but when I went back to it to post only one photo was there.

Rescue Beauty Lounge

I have seen a lot of nail blogs cover Rescue Beauty Lounge, so I went and took a peek. I literally squealed with glee when I saw the following colours: Bikini Bottom, Square Pants , Starfish-Patrick. I probably would have thrown those in my cart imediately but when I noticed the $18 USD price tag my heart sank. Looks like I will have to wait until I have some extra cash before I order those.


UPDATE: I threw those colours into my shopping cart just to see how much it would cost to get those bad boys on my nails. The shipping for three polishes to Canada (international) was a massive $34.50. For shipping alone. Three nail polish bottles ended up costing more than $92 total. I left that shopping cart in cyberspace and ran for the hills.

I checked with an American friend and the shipping was less than $10. Huh?

There has to be an easier way for this Canuck to get that polish.

First Entry

Greetings to anyone who stumbles across my blog!

Since this is my first entry I will introduce myself.

I will be known as 'Skulda' to you, and who is Skulda? Well, she is a character I play on World of Warcraft. Yes. I am a nerd. Skulda is one of the 'Forsaken', the undead race of the Horde. All undead have what appear to be claws on their hands and toes.

So if you haven't figured it out already, I really like nail polish. I decided after pouring over so many nail polish blogs that maybe I would make one too. I do not have very much money so you will not see me post multitudes of swatches week after week, but I will post images here and there of my nails and the colours I apply to them. I will also mention that I am not a professional nail artist. I'm more of a noob who it trying to improve on my self-done manicures.

So! What brought me to posting today? I was browsing around the interwebs looking at nail blogs when I came across this article on alllacqueredup.com. I think I'd liked to get this whole collection. I'm normally not one for pastels, but I think these are adorable! What do you think?
